S’gor govt temporarily closes 1Utama mall, Tropicana golf resort after Covid-19 cases detected

PETALING JAYA: The One Utama shopping complex in Bandar Utama as well as the Tropicana Golf Club and Country Resort will be closed from Sunday (Oct 11) to check for Covid-19 transmission, says Petaling District Disaster Management Committee chairman Johary Anuar.

He said that four positive cases were detected at the shopping complex and another five at the golf club, adding that eight of the positive cases involved workers, while another involved a visitor to the shopping complex.

Johary added that the two premises would be closed to facilitate contact tracing and decontamination exercises.

"The Petaling district health office will carry out health screening at One Utama from Oct 14 to Oct 15, from 9am to 2pm for those who had come into close contact with those tested positive.

"For those who developed symptoms prior to the screening dates, they should immediately go for a check-up and treatment at the nearest health facility," he said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 10).

The authorities had ordered those who went to the Parkson Elite Cosmetic and Perfumery on the ground floor (from Sept 30 to Oct 7), and to Mac City at level 2 (from Sept 25 to Sept 30) to participate in the screening exercise.
