PUTRAJAYA: The Pokok Sena Prison in Kedah will be placed under enhanced movement control order (MCO) for 14 days, starting Oct 11.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the National Security Council decided on this after a spike in the number of Covid-19 positive cases there.
He said that prison staff, their family, police and health officers at the Pokok Sena Prison have been infected.
"We have decided to impose the enhanced MCO at the prison and the staff quarters until Oct 24," he said on Friday (Oct 9).
A total of 3,262 inmates and 587 staff will be affected.
Ismail Sabri also said 381 individuals were arrested on Thursday (Oct 8) for not complying with standard operating procedure (SOP).
Majority of those nabbed (144) were not wearing face masks in crowded public areas. Other offences include no social distancing (68), activities at entertainment centres (32), leaving the house while under conditional MCO and entering a lockdown area without permission.
