KUALA LUMPUR: The suspect who was arrested after a saleswoman was robbed near a Pandan Perdana restaurant, has been fired since 2018, according to Selangor police.
"The suspect that we arrested was found to be a former policeman.
"He was removed from his duties on July 18,2018, after a drug related case in Terengganu," said Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Fadzil Ahmat when contacted on Tuesday (Aug 25).
On Sunday (Aug 23) night, a saleswoman was robbed by three men who introduced themselves as policemen.
The 29-year-old victim was having a drink with her friends at a restaurant at Jalan Pandan 3/10 when the suspects approached her.
One of the suspects was arrested there after passersby intervened.
A 26-second video of the incident has been making its rounds on Facebook, which shows two men wearing black T-shirts and jeans dragging the woman, while she screams.
Another man dressed in a grey T-shirt can be seen helping them before running off.
One of the men wearing black can be seen holding the victim's handbag when a group of men confronted the suspects.
The woman is then seen breaking free from the suspects and running away while the two remaining suspects walked away calmly.
