Ex-Upko rep James Ratib seen at Umno event

KOTA KINABALU: Former Umno member and Sugut assemblyman Datuk James Ratib (pic) appears to be rejoining the party after a video of him with Umno members at a function was uploaded on his Facebook page recently.

Ratib - who quit Umno following the 14th General Election to join Upko - then announced in June that he was leaving Upko to become an independent supporting Perikatan Nasional.

However, as seen in his Facebook page, there was an event seemingly held to welcome him back to Umno on Aug 14.

The video also shows members holding up a banner with the words “Welcome back YB Datuk James Ratib to Umno’s side” while he was photographed on stage making a speech.

Sabah Umno chief Datuk Bung Moktar when contacted on Saturday said Ratib had shown interest in wanting to return to the party but no decision has been made so far.

Efforts to contact Ratib are continuing.
