KUALA LUMPUR: Compounds will be issued to the supporters of Datuk Seri Najib Razak who have gathered outside of the Duta Court Complex if they violate the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the recovery movement control order (MCO).
Sentul OCPD Asst Comm S. Shanmugamoorthy said between 600 to 700 people were present for Najib's case but added that the number has dwindled due to various factors, including the weather.
"We discovered that Najib's supporters began marching in the morning from the Federal Territory Mosque in huge numbers. We also warned them to adhere to SOPs, including to maintain social distancing and wear face masks.
"At first they did not comply but after a few other reminders, they complied. The situation is under control and no untoward incidents occurred," he said when met at the court complex on Tuesday (July 28).
He added that the police will take stern action if the supporters fail to adhere to the SOPs.
"About 200 police personnel are on duty today to maintain order around the court complex," he said.
Two roadblocks were conducted at entrances to the court complex, he added.
"We advise the public to continue adhering to the SOPs even after the case is adjourned," he said.
