Section of Jalan Taman U Thant closed after sinkhole causes road collapse

KUALA LUMPUR: A section of Jalan Taman U Thant in Taman U Thant has been closed off after a sinkhole caused part of the road to collapse.

Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan said that Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) Skuad Penyelamat had responded to the incident, which occurred around 3.35pm today.

“A part of a private property’s boundary wall had also given way and there is a downed utility pole and trees. The decision was made to close part of the road as it is a safety issue, ” he said.

He added that the cause of the sinkhole was currently unknown.

“Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd teams are also onsite as ground movement has caused a burst water pipe and the supply had to be cut off for mitigation works, ” Nor Hisham added.
