PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry says that it has not detected any Covid-19 clusters in Miri, Sarawak.
"Nothing in Miri yet," Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah told a press conference on Thursday (July 16).
Miri Mayor Adam Yii had called for swift countermeasures following the detection of 13 new patients under investigation (PUIs) by health authorities in Miri over the past day.
He said he was concerned over the possibility of a second wave of infections.
A PUI is a patient with Covid-19-like symptoms, such as high fever, shortness of breath and physical weaknesses.
Dr Noor Hisham, however, said that a new cluster was detected in Mambong, Sarawak, where two people had tested positive for Covid-19 so far.
Both of the cases were detected at a company – one a Malaysian and the other a foreigner.
He said another 68 close contacts were waiting for their test results.
"The cause of the infection is still under investigation," said Dr Noor Hisham.
