BALIK PULAU: Police here have raided a drug processing mini-lab in a condominium in Bayan Lepas here.
“Police personnel found drug processing equipment during the raid at 9.30pm on Sunday (June 7) and the preliminary investigation found that the mini-lab has been operating for the last three months, ” said Southwest OCPD Superintendent A.A. Anbalagan.
He said that the raid was made following the arrest of a 31-year-old man in Sungai Nibong area here on Monday for alleged drug trafficking.
Supt Anbalagan said the suspect was detained in an operation codenamed Ops Tapis at about 5pm, adding that the suspect was detained while driving a black car.
"Upon inspection of his car, the police found a small transparent plastic packet in a chocolate paper bag containing lumps and powder believed to be heroin, ” said Supt Anbalagan at a press conference on Wednesday (June 10).
He added that police personnel also found a green bag containing 15 plastic transparent packets filled with a substance believed to be syabu.
Supt Anbalagan said the police seized 505gm of heroin and 30.5gm of syabu during the arrest and added that the suspect is being remanded until June 14 to facilitate investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
He said information obtained when the suspect was interrogated then led the police to discover the drug processing mini-lab in a condominium unit in Persiaran Bayan Indah.
Supt Anbalagan then said that the police confiscated drugs worth RM124,398 during the raid.
