SHAH ALAM: A suspected drug dealer thought his vacuum cleaner would be the perfect hiding place for his stash until the police came in and swept the area.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Baharudin Mat Taib said police acting on information, found the man had been sitting in front of a house on Jalan Sg Kalkati 32/204 at Section 32 here on Tuesday (May 12) around 10pm.

"We found him in possession of a clear plastic bag filled with a crystalised substance believed to be syabu weighing about 5.8g on a shelf in one of the rooms, but when we searched the house, we found seven more packets hidden inside a vacuum cleaner," he said.

ACP Baharudin believes the 33-year-old suspect may have been dealing drugs for a while as he had a clever way of hiding them.

He said the drugs found were estimated to be worth RM12,650 and would have been sold on the streets at RM50 for a packet weighing about 0.4g.

The man, who has four records of drug offences and a criminal offence, was arrested and will be remanded until Tuesday (May 19) and the case is being investigated for drug trafficking, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

In a separate case, police found two men aged 19 and 21 with about 5ml of black liquid believed to be derived from cannabis and a small packet containing what is believed to be dried cannabis on Thursday (May 14).

"We found about 5ml of the liquid and the men also tested positive for the drug," he said adding both men had a clean record.

The men have been charged for drug possession under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Further investigations led to the arrest of a man in his 30s near a 24-hour convenience store in Klang who was found with 40ml of the same liquid on Friday (May 15).

Police were later taken to a house in Jalan Dato' Abdul Hamid where they found 40 vials of the same liquid amounting to about 400ml with each vial said to be priced at RM230.

The suspect, who has a clean record, is being investigated for drug trafficking and could face the death sentence if convicted.
