Cops put the brakes on superbiker’s speedy stunts

GEORGE TOWN: The 28-year-old male nurse who was arrested for allegedly riding his superbike at breakneck speed on Penang Bridge had posted several other videos of similar stunts on his Facebook page.

Among them were videos in which the motorcycle’s speedometer showed 170kph along Jalan Padang Tembak, 198kph on Jalan Masjid Negeri, and 248kph along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah.

He also uploaded a video of his Kawasaki ZX-6R weaving through traffic at high speeds along Jalan Utama.

In his latest video posted on April 17, the bike recorded 260kph on Penang Bridge.

This video showed that his bike crossed the bridge in a little over two minutes.

Police subsequently launched an investigation following reports received, and tracked the suspect to his home at Rifle Range Flats, where he was arrested on Tuesday.

“Police received the ‘helmetcam’ video footage recording the suspect’s acts on a 636cc motorcycle,” said George Town OCPD, Asst Comm Soffian Santong.

The suspect was released on bail with one surety, and will be charged on May 7.
