MELAKA: A 55-year-old man landed in trouble for injuring a policeman at a roadblock here on Wednesday (April 8).

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Afzanizar Ahmad said the man had been remanded for four days starting Thursday (April 9) for slapping and uttering abusive words at the policeman during a roadblock along the Alor Gajah-Melaka-Jasin (AMJ) Highway near Malim Jaya.

The incident happened at 1.30pm on Wednesday (April 8) at the roadblock which was screening those violating the movement control order (MCO).

ACP Afzanizar said the man was trailing an ambulance that had given the green light to pass the roadblock.

He said the man, who was driving a Proton Iswara, was unhappy when the policeman asked him to pull-over for trying to bypass the roadblock.

"A scuffle ensued when my man sustained injury on his left cheek and required treatment at the Melaka Hospital," he said on Thursday.

ACP Afzanizar said the man was arrested and brought to Malim police station.

He added that the incident was being investigated under Rule 11(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020.
