PUTRAJAYA: Food supply, e-commerce activities and logistics and transport services are allowed to operate during the movement control order (MCO).
Among those listed are food manufacturers, retail, packaging, distribution, wholesale and distribution centres.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi said those in the logistics and transport services that supports supply, marketing and e-commerce, as well as companies that supports the food supply chain would also be allowed to operate.
He said the permission given was in line with the list of services deemed as essential sector by the International Trade and Industry Ministry.
"This is the government's commitment to ensure the chain of supply for retail is not affected, and at the same time, gives the people confidence that supply of essentials are available," he said.
Nanta said those who were working must take measures to avoid being infected by Covid-19.
Only those with no Covid-19 symptoms would allowed to work, and all must maintain social distancing among workers, as well as adopt good practices such as maintaining a high level of hygiene among staff and the premises.
Nanta also reminded companies to operate at a minimum and close non-essential services.
"It is imperative that companies which have been given the permission to operate, adhere to all regulations," he said.
