Fadillah: Only 'family heads' allowed to leave the house to shop

PETALING JAYA: Only the head of a family is allowed to leave the house to purchase daily necessities and medication during the movement control order period (MCO), says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof (pic).

Fadillah, who is Works Minister, said that under the MCO, only one person, which is the head of the family, is allowed to leave the house to get basic necessities or medication.

However, Fadillah said if there was more than one person, they would need to explain themselves to the police.

He said the police would then use their discretion.

"As per the guidelines, only one person is allowed. But if there is a reason (for more than one person) like a death in the family then they need to explain to the police.

"But I urge you to not leave the house. Only go out when you have to. When you're out, follow the guidelines set by the Health Ministry. Wash your hands, watch your health and make sure you practice social distancing," he said during a live telecast of his press conference on RTM on Saturday (March 21).

Fadillah said this was to ensure that families' and the general public's safety is protected from the spread of Covid-19.
