Kelantan allocates RM5mil for underprivileged during MCO

PETALING JAYA: Kelantan state government will allocate RM5mil in special allocation to fight Covid-19, says Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yaakob.

He said the allocation would be for the underpriviliged for the two-week duration of the movement control order (MCO) period.

"The Kelantan government takes seriously the MCO announced nationwide to prevent and mitigate the spread of Covid-19.

"The state government has agreed to allocate RM5mil as a special allocation to the underprivileged Kelantanese during the outbreak of Covid-19.

"The mechanism will be detailed later.

"State civil servants with the contract and part-time status will be paid as usual, as will the permanent state civil servants," said Ahmad in a statement released on March 20.

Kelantan is the latest in the list of states releasing special allocations to the people during the MCO.
