Ahmad Faizal: Perak Sultan wants politicians to prioritise state's stability

IPOH: Perak's Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah has advised all politicians and the people to prioritise the stability of the state, according to Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu (pic).

Speaking to reporters after an audience with the Perak ruler on Thursday (March 12), the state Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman said Sultan Nazrin also urged everyone to stay healthy and safe.

"He urged all politicians and the people to prioritise stability and not to fight with each other.

"He has yet to make a decision on the appointment (of a new mentri besar)," he said.

"The people should remain calm and be patient while we wait for the Sultan to make a decision," he added.

Faizal had met the Sultan earlier, together with state PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria and state Umno chairman Datuk Saarani Mohamad.

Also present was former Perak mentri besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.

Faizal had on Monday (March 9) announced that Perikatan Nasional, which consists of Bersatu, Umno and PAS, would form the state government.

The state Perikatan consists of 25 Umno assemblymen, three from PAS and four from Bersatu.

Faizal, who is also Tambun MP and Chenderiang assemblyman, had also tendered his resignation as mentri besar to allow a new appointment by the Perak ruler.

Faizal said Perikatan had presented a letter to the Sultan.

The letter, signed by all three party chairmen, stated they would fully support the choice of mentri besar appointed by the Sultan.
