Perak PH ready for any outcome

IPOH: From remarks such as “game over” to tears while packing up, several Perak Pakatan Harapan state exco members are bracing for the possibility that the state

coalition would lose its hold on Perak.Although there is no official word yet on their status, DAP’s Sungkai assemblyman A. Sivanesan believes there is a likelihood that Pakatan would lose the state government following the political developments in the country.

He said it was “game over” in the state even though Pakatan had yet to get any feedback from state Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman and Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

Sivanesan said he was getting ready to clear his office and would be thanking the department heads under his purview.

“I will return to work as a lawyer for the second time.

“The court is nothing new to me, it’s my second home, ” he said.

“I will leave my official car at the state secretariat until I get feedback from Faizal, ” he told reporters yesterday at the state secretariat building.

He also said he was not in shock as the state constitutional crisis in 2009 was the worse.

“This is my second experience. Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, who was the Mentri Besar then, and I were the two surviving ones from then.

“It’s something expected. The beautiful thing this time is that we stayed for 20 months, ” he said.

“The last time, it was over within 10 months, so it’s an improvement, ” he added.

Faizal, who is Tambun MP and Chenderiang assemblyman, was apparently seen leaving Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s house in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

A day before that, Faizal was also captured on video sitting next to Muhyiddin who was addressing a group of MPs on getting the majority support.

PKR’s Simpang Pulai assemblyman Tan Kar Hing said he was prepared for any eventuality.

“We know the situation at federal level has settled. Since Bersatu left Pakatan, we had an inkling on the situation here.

“It’s just that we haven’t received any official feedback from him (Faizal), ” he said, adding that he would continue with his duties since there was no official instruction.

“I will also meet with the State Secretary and State Financial Officer to ensure the administration of the state government is running smoothly, ” he added.

Titi Serong assemblyman Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim got emotional as he was packing up his things at his office.

Hasnul Zulkarnain, from Amanah, said he was preparing himself for any outcome should Pakatan lose the state government.

“I came to pack up my things and I got sad when removing the picture of me receiving my appointment letter from the Perak Sultan, ” he said at his office.

Reporters, who were waiting nearby to meet with the state exco members, rushed to Hasnul Zulkarnain’s office after he went live on Facebook to say his farewell to his staff and pack up his belongings.

“I felt that I’ve not done my best as an exco member and for the people.

“But I have to accept that this is politics, where lives can change within 24 hours, ” he said.

“I will continue my responsibility as a state assemblyman, ” he added.

Hasnul Zulkarnain also felt that he had worked well with Faizal.

At a later press conference, Hasnul Zulkarnain said they were still waiting for the latest news from Faizal and the state palace.

“Our responsibilities as state excos continue with small meetings and other meet-the-people programmes.

“Politically, we leave it to our respective top party leaderships to decide, ” he said.

Meanwhile, Nizar, who is Perak Amanah deputy chairman, believed that Faizal was still with Pakatan.

“Has he made any official statement that he has left Pakatan?

“He could be there for a meal, which doesn’t mean anything, ” he said, referring to the video which showed Faizal leaving Muhyiddin’s house.

“As of now, there’s no instruction yet. Be calm, don’t speculate, ” he added.

He insisted that Pakatan was still in power in the state government.

“There will only be a caretaker government when the state legislative assembly has been dissolved or the Mentri Besar has resigned, ” he added.
