GPS throws in its support for Dr M to lead as PM

KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) supports Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to lead the country as Prime Minister, says its secretary-general Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi.

He said GPS' support was conveyed to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and to Dr Mahathir himself on Sunday (Feb 23) by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

"The Chief Minister had obtained a unanimous mandate from the GPS supreme council and all GPS MPs to give our support to Dr Mahathir to continue leading Malaysia for the sake of the country," Nanta said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 25).

He said this following speculation about GPS' position in the current political scenario.

GPS has 18 MPs.
