MACC audio recordings: Najib and Rosmah at Bukit Aman for questioning

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor have arrived at Bukit Aman to have their statements taken over the audio recordings released by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) last month.

Both evaded the press waiting outside by entering the premises via the second entrance at the back.

Sources said they arrived at 10.45am on Friday (Feb 21).

Previously, Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed said that the former prime minister and his wife would be called back before the end of the month for their statements over the audio recordings.

At a televised press conference on Jan 8, the MACC revealed a series of nine audio recordings of high-ranking officials, including Najib.

The anti-graft body alleged that this was indicative of a “criminal conspiracy at the highest level”.

The MACC claimed that one recording was of Rosmah and Najib, in which Rosmah was heard expressing her displeasure over certain MACC investigations in 2016.

Among other individuals that the MACC identified in the audio recordings were former MACC chief Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad, former Tabung Haji chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, and Najib’s former principal private secretary Tan Sri Shukry Mohd Salleh.

The recordings were said to have been made between Jan 5,2016, and July 29,2016.
