IPOH: The voices in the audio recordings that were released by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will be identified latest this week, says Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador (pic).
The Inspector-General of Police said police will record the statements of the individuals involved once the voices have been identified.
"But there are only a few days left, we might call them next week," he told reporters after conferring the Jasa Pahlawan Negara medals to recipients at Bridged Utara here on Tuesday (Jan 21).
On Jan 8, MACC released nine audio recordings said to incriminate top officials, including former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, alleging a "criminal conspiracy at the highest level".
The police had on Jan 17 recorded the statements of some MACC officers, including its chief, Latheefa Koya.
Abdul Hamid said the investigation on the allegations of a plot to tarnish Latheefa's reputation is still ongoing.
"We are still actively conducting the investigation," he said.
It was reported on Jan 14 that MACC had lodged a police report against individuals whom they claimed plotted to tarnish Latheefa's reputation.
