IPOH: The police have arrested a 22-year-old man allegedly involved in a burglary where items worth about RM203,000 were stolen from a house in Medan Pasir Indah here.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz said the suspect was arrested at Jalan Pasir Mas here on Jan 13 at about 12.30am, three days after a report was lodged by the victim.
"After interrogating him, we went to his house and found over 94 items, all believed to be stolen goods.
"These included mobile phones, watches, laptops, branded handbags, jewellery and also weapons like knives, machetes, an iron axe and three swords," he told a press conference at the district police station here Friday (Jan 17).
"We also found several vehicle keys, a small flashlight and some jewellery with him," he said.
ACP A. Asmadi said the suspect had several past criminal records and also tested positive for drugs.
"He has admitted to committing the burglary with a friend, whom we are now trying to locate. We believe the friend might have possessed one of the stolen items, a watch that is worth about RM30,000.
"The suspect has been placed under police remand from Jan 13 until Jan 17. We plan to extend his remand period," he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
