PETALING JAYA: Touch n’ Go e-Wallet and Boost service providers experienced an overwhelming response for the RM30 e-tunai Rakyat causing a slowdown on their mobile applications.
Both providers assured users their services returned to normal as of lunchtime yesterday after they increased the capacity to handle heavy user traffic.
Touch ‘n Go e-Wallet in a statement said following the overwhelming response, they saw a higher success rate in the number of applicants registered for the e-tunai.
“We truly appreciate your patience as our team is working effortlessly to assure that our app is back to its optimal efficiency phase in the quickest time possible.
“Being the most rewarding e-Wallet, we are thankful for the faith Malaysians have given in choosing to redeem their e-Tunai Rakyat.
“We hope Malaysians will continue supporting us now and in the future as we bring value through the many rewarding campaigns planned for everyone on this cashless journey with us,” it said.
The claims for e-Tunai Rakyat initiative kicked off yesterday with Touch ‘n Go eWallet, Boost and GrabPay selected to be the service providers for the project.
Boost CEO Mohd Khairil Abdullah said they received an encouraging response as many users “clogged” their application to make application for the e-tunai.
“The is no issue now to use our platform to make the claim,” he said.
He said Boost also offered a cash prize of up to RM8,888 as an additional reward to those who submitted their application via their platform.
He said the claim will take five working days for them to process, following eligibility checks with the National Registration Department and the Inland Revenue Board.
“Each user can only claim from one e-wallet. This procedure is standard across all three e-wallets involved in the e-Tunai Rakyat initiative,” he said.
In Putrajaya, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said the e-Tunai Rakyat initiative received more than 200,000 applications as of noon yesterday, benefiting Malaysians, aged 18 and above, who earn less than RM100,000 a year.
The RM30 can be used to purchase goods and services available through the respective e-wallet of their choice.
The initiative will run for two months from Jan 15 to March 14.
