TWO young female graduates managed to assemble drones by themselves and used them to spray pesticide over rice fields in Alor Setar, reported Sinar Harian.

Adhlin Syuhada Mat Saad, and Siti Zainab Samsudin, both 21, flew the drones recently over the rice fields in Kampung Pengapit Batu, Jalan Datuk Kumbar.

“We learned how to assemble the drones. It’s not as easy as it seems, ” said Siti Zainab, a graduate from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM).

Adhlin Syuhada, who is from Politeknik Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, said this was proof that women were as capable as men and that “not all are shopaholics”.

> The daily also highlighted the case of a man in Kuantan, Pahang, who lost up to RM40,780 after trying to get a RM15,000 loan.

The 34-year-old had earlier this month deposited RM1,180 into the bank account of a woman as “insurance” for a loan after coming across the offer via a Facebook advertisement.

State Commercial Crime Investigation Department Chief Supt Mohd Wazir Mohd Yusof said after a few days, the man was asked to make another payment for his loan request to be processed.

The victim, he said, made nine transactions amounting to RM31,600 into the account of another man.

“Three days ago, he again deposited RM8,000 in three transactions, ” he said, adding that the victim later lodged a report with the Bera police station after feeling suspicious by the constant requests to put in money for a loan.

> Berita Harian highlighted an interview with actress Bella Dowanna, 16, who had expressed her discomfort for taking on older roles.

Bella, who has been acting since she was nine, portrayed a more mature character in the drama Cemburu Seorang Wanita.

“Honestly, I was not very comfortable with a role that is more mature than I am – roles such as a pregnant lady or a married woman.

“I will always ask my mother if I should take on the role or not.

“My mum would tell me that if you are not comfortable, how are you going to be successful?” said Bella, who plans to focus on studying for her SPM this year.

“After May, I will be reducing my activities to focus my attention on my studies.

“SPM is pretty important because it is the first step into entering higher level of education, ” she said.
