MTUC: We haven’t received any suspension letter from ROS

PETALING JAYA: A Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) official says they have not received a letter from the Registrar of Societies (ROS) informing the congress that it has been suspended.

A photo of a letter, purportedly from the ROS to the MTUC, has been circulating, notifying it of the suspension effective Dec 13, without stating any reasons why.

However, it cannot be immediately determined if the letter is genuine.

"I have not received any letter from ROS," said MTUC secretary-general J Solomon when contacted on Friday (Dec 20).

He said that he was aware of the photo which is now spreading on messaging apps and social media.

Solomon said he was still trying to get in touch with the ROS to find out if the letter is genuine.

MTUC president Datuk Abdul Halim Mansor could not be reached for comment, while efforts are ongoing to contact the ROS.

The letter allegedly states that the ROS has decided to cancel the registration of MTUC on Dec 13 unless the MTUC can produce valid reasons to the registrar.

"As such, it is ordered that all activities by the organisation named above, with the exception of replying to Notice 13(2) is suspended," the letter allegedly stated.
