KOTA TINGGI: The number of victims evacuated to temporary flood relief centres (PPS) in Johor has climbed up to 2,640 people from 703 families as of 6pm on Saturday (Dec 14).
The Johor Disaster Management committee said in a statement that this was up from 1,364 people from 355 families earlier at 2am.
"As of 6pm, there are a total of 42 PPS that are operating in six districts, namely Kota Tinggi, Mersing, Kluang, Segamat, Kulai and Muar," it said.
On Saturday, the Malaysian Meteorological Department in a Facebook post issued a red warning notice of continuous heavy rain expected to hit Mersing and Kota Tinggi until Sunday (Dec 15).
It also stated that bad weather would affect Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai, Johor Baru and Tangkak.
