Defence White Paper tabled in Dewan Rakyat by Mohamad Sabu

KUALA LUMPUR: A Defence White Paper to chart Malaysia's defence plans was tabled in Dewan Rakyat by Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu.

Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Arrif Md Yusof said that lawmakers from both sides of the political divide would be given time to debate on the White Paper.

"The first four MPs would be given 15 minutes each to debate, followed by 10 minutes each for the following MPs taking part in the debates.

"After which, the minister will give his reply at 4pm today (Dec 2)," he said after Mohamad tabled the White Paper in Dewan Rakyat on Monday.

Earlier, Mohamad said that the White Paper would chart the nation's defence plans between 2020 and 2030.

Besides focusing on developing a modernised "smart army", he said the White Paper would also focus on optimising computers, cyberspace technology and state-of-the-art systems.

He said the White Paper would be inclusive to ensure a secure, sovereign, prosperous nation.
