Saifuddin urges action against company behind Jalur Gemilang fiasco

PETALING JAYA: The Foreign Minister has urged authorities to take action against the company that featured an inaccurate flag of Malaysia during the opening ceremony of a basketball game.

Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah (pic) clarified that the Malaysian Basketball Association (Maba) had outsourced the job to a third-party company.

He added that Maba has since demanded the inaccurate flag be removed and deleted.

“Maba has lodged a police report and has apologised on Facebook and Instagram. They will also be a holding a press conference on this incident.

“I hope the authorities will take action against the individual or the company that made this mistake, ” he tweeted on his official account on Tuesday (Nov 26).

Pictures of the inaccurate flag have gone viral on social media after it was seen featuring a five-pointed star and 10 red and white stripes during the opening ceremony of the 28th Maba Milo Lum Mun Chak Cup 2019 tournament.

The Malaysian flag is composed of a 14-pointed star and 14 red and white stripes, which represent the nation's 13 states and the Federal Territories.
