Gang rape of 14-year-old girl may have been caught on video

KOTA KINABALU: The rapists, who allegedly forced themselves on a 14-year-old student in Tawau, may have also recorded the incident on video.

Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Peter Umbuas (pi) said police are investigating the case from all angles, but neither confirmed nor denied receiving a copy of the video.

However, he also said that the video of the alleged rape, purportedly involving seven SPM students, was not the main focus of their probe.

“Our main investigation focuses on the alleged rape and sexual assault of this girl,” he said when contacted on Monday (Nov 18).

ACP Umbuas said this when asked about a story published in a local online news portal - Borneo Today - that a video was taped during the incident for the boys’ personal porn collection.

The girl was found half-naked and crying in her school switch room after she was allegedly raped by two boys around 11am on Nov 15.

Four others were claimed to have made her perform oral sex on them while another stood watch.

A teacher, who found the traumatised girl, immediately informed the girl's mother, who lodged a police report at 3.30pm the same day.

The boys were subsequently nabbed and are now out on bail to allow them to sit for their SPM exams.

Meanwhile, Sabah Education Department director Mistirine Radin said the victim will be given counselling and other forms of moral support soon.

She said for now, the girl is at home resting.

"She has been discharged from the hospital and has now been asked to take time off to rest and calm her mind following the said incident," she said.
