PONTIAN: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pic) wants the government to introduce a stimulus package to boost the country's economic growth.
The Home Minister said that he would be discussing the matter with Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng and Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in the upcoming Cabinet meeting.
"The stimulus package is nothing new as it had been done by Barisan Nasional when they were the government at the time to tackle economic slowdown.
"This package will see the government pump in money to encourage people to spend," he said this during a press conference held at Pakatan Harapan main operation centre for the Tanjung Piai by-election at Rambah here on Thursday (Nov 7).
Muhyiddin, who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president, said that he would be speaking to the Economic Affairs Ministry on developing Tanjung Piai's tourism industry.
The Pagoh MP added that the area was known as a tourism area where it has many homestays and other local products that have the potential to be developed even further.
"This is one of our promises and as we are the government, we can do it anytime," he said.
