Wendy Subramaniam is Gerakan's candidate for Tanjung Piai

PETALING JAYA: Gerakan will be fielding its deputy secretary-general Wendy Subramaniam in the upcoming Tanjung Piai by-election.

The 38-year-old lawyer from Johor Bahru will face Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional candidates in the by-election which was triggered after MP Dr Md Farid Md Rafik, 42, died of heart complications on Sept 21.

While Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has named its Tanjung Piai division chief Karmaine Sardini as the Pakatan candidate, Barisan has yet to reveal its candidate.

The Election Commission has set Nov 2 as the nomination day and Nov 16 as the polling day for the parliamentary by-election.

Mohd Farid defeated Barisan’s Datuk Seri Wee Jeck Seng in the last general election by 524 votes.
