PUTRAJAYA: Hew Kuan Yau must resign as the chief executive officer of the Malaysia-China Business Council over his role in the comic book controversy, says MCA Youth chairman Nicole Wong.
The revelation that the Belt and Road Initiative for Win-Winism comic book was passed on to China president Xi Jinping without following protocol proved that Hew had “low credibility”, Wong said.
“Hew prioritised personal gains over diplomatic ties between Malaysia and China and used unscrupulous means to deliver the comic, which was not screened by the Malaysia government, to President Xi,” she said.
The move, added Wong, embarrassed and disgraced the Foreign Ministry and Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
