We have candidates for Tanjung Piai by-election, says Dr Wee

KUALA LUMPUR: The MCA is not short of candidates to field in the upcoming Tanjung Piai by-election, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The party president said that the decision on the candidates would only be made after the Barisan Nasional coalition meets.

“We are not short of candidates. However, any decision on the candidates will be fine-tuned and decided after the Barisan supreme council meets.

“This is the spirit of togetherness. We will announce the decision together, as we always have, ” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby on Tuesday (Oct 15).

Prior to this, Umno secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa said Barisan will reveal its candidate for the Tanjung Piai by-election at least a week before nomination day, which is on Nov 2.

The polling day would be on Nov 16.

The Tanjung Piai seat fell vacant after the death of Datuk Dr Md Farid Rafik on Sept 21.
