PETALING JAYA: A nine-year-old boy is feared to have drowned after falling into a drain at Taman Bukit Teratai in Ampang.

It is learnt that Mohamad Danish Supri Antony was playing with some friends when the incident occurred at about 6.22pm on Tuesday (Oct 8).

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Noor Azmi Yusoff said the victim was swept away as it was raining.

"His mother called the Mers 999 hotline after he fell into the drain. A search-and-rescue (SAR) operation consisting of various agencies, including the police and Fire and Rescue Department was launched but as of 2.30pm (Wednesday) but we have not found the victim," he told a press conference on Wednesday (Oct 9).

The focus of the SAR is at nearby Sungai Kerayong, as well as rubbish traps in the surrounding area, he added.

"We have also informed Klang police to keep a look-out in Sungai Klang, as in the past, similar incidents had led to the body turning up there three days later," he said.
