Nga: Resignation of assemblymen from DAP committee an internal matter

IPOH: The issue of the two Perak DAP assemblymen resigning from the party's committee will be resolved internally, says Nga Kor Ming.

The Perak DAP chief described the issue as an internal matter.

"The case is will be discussed internally within our party," he told reporters after attending a handing over of special allocation ceremony to Chinese vernacular schools at SMJK Ave Maria here on Thursday (Sept 12).

The previous day, Malim Nawar assemblyman and the party's state deputy treasurer, Leong Cheok Keng, and Pokok Assam assemblyman and assistant organising secretary, Leow Thye Yih, handed in their resignations with immediate effect.

The two said they were upset over Nga's statement on the status of state executive council member, Paul Yong Choo Kiong, in a Chinese daily.

Nga had said Yong's status would be discussed in the state's Pakatan Harapan meeting.

Leong, who is also Yong's lawyer, said Yong was appointed as an exco through the party's recommendation, and therefore his position must first be discussed by the party.

Yong is currently on leave as announced by the Mentri Besar after he was charged last month with raping his former Indonesian maid.

He claimed trial at a Session Court here.
