PETALING JAYA: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah extended their condolences to the family of Mejar Mohd Zahir Armaya, who was killed in an accidental shooting in Sabah.
The King said that he sympathises with and felt sad for the Mohd Zahir's family in their time of trials and sorrow, while offering prayers for his soul.
The King also said that as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, he valued Mohd Zahir's services and contributions as an officer with the 11th Regimen Gerak Khas.
Mohd Zahir, who was the son of veteran actor-comedian A.R. Badul, was killed on Wednesday (Sept 4) after a live bullet hit him during an exhibition at the Lok Kawi army camp near here.
Mejar Mohd Zahir Armaya died at Queen Elizabeth Hospital here after he was rushed there, following the accidental shooting at about 9.20am on Wednesday, sources said.
He was taking part in an army exhibition attended by senior army officers in conjunction with the launching of the 13th army brigade and 5th Infantry Division at the Lok Kawi army camp.
A post-mortem is being conducted at the hospital.
