Man rams wife after she catches him cheating

MIRI: A 50-year-old man who is believed to have run over his wife with his car after she caught him with another woman is now wanted by the police.

Miri police chief Asst Comm Lim Meng Seah said the 53-year-old wife was walking back from a mosque in Kampung Wireless here at 8.30pm on Aug 29 when she saw her husband inside his car parked on the side of the road.

“She approached the car and as she got closer, she saw that there was another woman inside with him. She walked towards him and when she was near the car, the husband suddenly accelerated his vehicle and rammed into her.

“The impact threw her onto the side of the road, ” he said here yesterday.

The couple, married for 30 years, had eight children, said ACP Lim.

The wife, he said, suffered hip injuries and was rushed to the Miri Hospital after witnesses alerted police.

ACP Lim said police had already identified the husband and were now searching for him.

The case has been classified under Section 307 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt, which carries a 20-year jail term upon conviction.

However, the section also stipulates that should the victim in such cases die as a result of injuries, the accused may face the death sentence for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
