SEREMBAN: A helicopter from the Police Air Wing unit has been deployed to search for Irish teen Nora Anne Quoirin who went missing on Sunday (Aug 4) morning.

State police chief DCP Datuk Mohamad Mat Yusop said the aircraft conducted a 30-minute aerial search on Monday (Aug 5) where the 15-year-old girl was reported missing.

"We will have the chopper again tomorrow.

"Apart from the assets already deployed,we will get more personnel to join in the search," he told reporters at the Pantai police station here Monday night.

DCP Mohamad said as of 7pm,police had yet to get any leads on the girl's whereabouts.

"We have categorised her as missing. There is nothing to suggest that she was abducted or there was any element of crime," he said.

DCP Mohamad said preliminary investigations showed the girl, who was sleeping with her two younger siblings, must have got out of the room through a window on Sunday.

"It looks as if the window was opened from the inside.

"We have reasons to believe that she is still in the area," he said.

He added that the search and rescue team has since combed a 25-acre area.

"We have divided the search area into four zones. We really hope to find her soon," he said.

The girl, who is of French-Irish parentage, was reported missing from a resort on Pantai Hill at 8am on Sunday.

Her father found her missing upon entering her room.

The girl, who has learning difficulties, had checked into the resort located along the Seremban-Jelebu trunk road with her parents and two siblings early Saturday (Aug 3).
