KUANTAN: The jubilant people of Pahang are not only proud that their Ruler is the King but they are also appreciative of his humble ways.

As Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah is installed as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, his deeds and character have certainly not gone unnoticed by his subjects.

Tee Choon Ser, 37, said she was touched when the new Yang di-Pertuan Agong stopped and got off his convoy to assist the injured in an accident.

“This shows how caring and loving our Yang di-Pertuan Agong is, ” she said.

Trader Md Jamil Pauzi, 35, said: “He is wise enough to see the importance of a harmonious society all the time. Tuanku Al-Sultan Abdullah will always be in our prayers.”

Palliative care physician Dr Pushpa P. Retnam, 69, said the installation marked a memorable day for the people of Pahang.

“On this special occasion, may His Royal Highness be blessed with good health and abundance of wellbeing during his reign as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and for years to come, ” she said.

Marketing manager Hanapi Mat Ripin, 45, said as a Pahang resident, he was not only proud of a King from Pahang but also of His Royal Highness’ character.

“The King’s contribution to the people is uncountable. He leads others to be good to others. He is wise and smart.

“His wisdom has helped Pahang to keep growing and developing, ” he said.

The Sultan of Pahang was proclaimed as State Ruler on Jan 15 and ascended to the Federal throne as Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Jan 31.

Yesterday’s installation was of special significance in Pahang as it was also Sultan Abdullah’s 60th birthday.

For that, the Pahang government had declared July 31 as a state holiday to mark the importance of both occasions.
