Perak police lodge report against FB user questioning its integrity in rape probe

IPOH: Perak police have lodged a report against a Facebook user for questioning their integrity in the investigation of a rape case involving a state executive council member.

State police chief Comm Datuk Razarudin Husain said they have opened an investigation paper against the owner of "1 Malaysia Tolak DAP" for uploading a post, which alleged that the forensics report of the rape case had gone missing.

Comm Razarudin said that the post had alleged that there were "hidden hands" ordering the report to be disposed of.

"The post was linked to a statement made by Wanita MCA chairman Datuk Heng Seai Kie. We will also be calling her to get her statement, " he said.

"We will investigate the matter under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act and Section 500 of the Penal Code, " he added.

Comm Razarudin advised the public not to make any irresponsible remarks that could tarnish the image of the police.

He said the police were investigating the case transparently and diligently.

"The people should also stop speculating about the case, which could jeopardise investigations, " he said in a statement on Tuesday (July 30).

It was reported that state exco member Paul Yong had been accused of raping his Indonesian maid earlier this month.

The police are still waiting for the forensics report.
