Look at the man in the mirror, says Azmin

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Azmin Ali has hit back at PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, saying that the latter should “look at the man in the mirror”.

“Read my lips ... tell him he must look at the man in the mirror,” he said at the Parliament lobby yesterday.

Asked to explain his comment, Azmin said: “Muhasabah.”

“Ask Anwar to reflect on himself (muhasabah). Please reflect on his own face,” added Azmin.

Earlier Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that Azmin should resign if he was conclusively identified as one of the two men in the recent viral sex video.

The PKR president said that although his initial views were that Azmin need not resign, recent developments in the investigations had to be taken into consideration.

Anwar was previously serving a five-year jail term since February 2015 after he was convicted of sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan in 2008.

He was released and received a royal pardon on May 16 in 2018.

In 2015, Anwar was jailed five years after the Federal Court upheld his guilty verdict for sodomy.

He was initially charged in the High Court in 2009 and tried in 2010 and 2011 before being acquitted in January 2012.

However, in March 2014, the acquittal was overturned by the Court of Appeal.
