Ex-army man, 64, claims trial to sexually assaulting stepdaughter

SEREMBAN: A 64-year-old former army man pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here to a charge of sexually assaulting his stepdaughter.

The man, who is from Lukut in Port Dickson, claimed trial to the charge before judge Junaidah Mohd Isa.

He was charged with molesting the victim, who is 16 years and 10 months old, by touching her private parts, breasts and kissing her body at their home in Bandar Springhill in Rantau near Port Dickson around 9pm on July 6.

The accused was charged under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

Offenders can be jailed up to 20 years and whipped upon conviction.

Junaidah, who told the accused and his family members not to contact or go near the victim, fixed Aug 18 for re-mention.

Bail was set at RM8,000 with one surety.

Norsyazwani Ishak prosecuted, while the accused was represented by Joseph Mathews.

Based on earlier media reports, the suspect has allegedly been committing the acts over the past one year.

The victim who could no longer endure the assaults apparently confided in a teacher at her school. The teacher advised her to lodge a police report.
