Haziq was never Azmin's intern, says aide

PETALING JAYA: Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz was never an intern to Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, says an aide of the Economic Affairs Minister.

Khalid Jaafar said while he was head of the strategic and research unit of the Selangor mentri besar's office, Azmin had rejected his suggestion for Haziq to intern at his office.

"My suggestion was rejected by Azmin. I then suggested that he become an intern in the mentri besar's office under my supervision on the 20th floor and not as the (then) mentri besar's intern," Khalid said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (June 18).

He said after the incident, Haziq appeared to "cross over to the other side" and started taking pictures with Barisan Nasional leaders.

He said that as GE14 approached, Barisan began to use him as he had experience as a student activist and used to work at a think tank.

Khalid said that Haziq even shared video clips of Khairy Jamaluddin's campaign in a WhatsApp group he had set up, resulting in Haziq being kicked out from the group.

He also questioned why PKR has yet to take any action against Haziq for making a "gross" confession.

Khalid said what Haziq did was not only shunned by the Malay and Muslim community but was also a crime, and if there was no action taken, PKR's name would be smeared.

"This neglect would be seen as a failure of the PKR leadership, especially of the president," he said.

In the past week, clips of a sex video involving two men have gone viral, followed by a confession by Haziq, who is also Santubong PKR Youth chief, that he was one of the two men in the video.

He claimed that the other person in the video was Azmin.

Azmin has categorically denied the allegation, saying it was made to tarnish his reputation and destroy his political career.

Haziq is being investigated under four charges, including Section 377B of the Penal Code for carnal intercourse against the order of nature and Section 292 for distributing obscene materials.
