Anwar: Not necessary to suspend Azmin

We must to adhere to these rules all the time, says Anwar.

MELAKA: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has voiced his objection to a suggestion by the Otai Reformasi group that Datuk Seri Azmin Ali take a break from his official duties until investigations into a sex video implicating him are completed.

He said detractors should give the PKR deputy president and his family members some space in dealing with the controversy.

“We cannot rush into taking action as suggested by Otai Reformasi because the authorities have just initiated their investigations into the case.

“Let us wait for the authorities to complete their probe,” Anwar told reporters at a Hari Raya open house hosted by Deputy Primary Industries Minister Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin

at Kota Fesyen in Ayer Keroh

here yesterday.

Anwar said that while he did not forbid PKR members and supporters from giving their views on the issue, it was best for them to make fewer comments to avoid complicating the situation.

Otai Reformasi chairman Dr Idris Ahmad had proposed that Azmin be given a “break” from his official duties as the Economic Affairs Minister to allow the police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to conduct their probe.

Shamsul said that police had contacted him to assist in investigations.

“As at today (yesterday), I still cannot reach Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz,” he said, referring to his private secretary who had claimed that he and Azmin were the two men seen in a sex video that went viral.
