Two Datuks, lawyer charged with forgery in JB


JOHOR BARU: Two Datuks and a lawyer were charged in a Magistrate's Court here, with 27 counts of document forgery related offences.
 
The accused were Johor Police Volunteer Reserve (PVR) commandant Datuk Lee Ban Heng, chairman of a chamber of commerce Datuk Chong Chee Heng and lawyer Danny Loo Kheng Soon.
 
Chong and Lee were accused of forging dozens of private caveat retraction documents on 27 lots of lands at Mukim Plentong four years ago, while Loo was accused of conspiring with them.
 
All three pleaded not guilty to the charges when it was read before magistrate Rashidah Baharom on Sunday (June 2).
 
Chong and Lee were accused of committing the offence under Section 468 of the Penal Code while Loo under Section 109 of the same Act.
 
Rashidah set Jun 17 for the next mention of the case and document submission.
