Cops arrest DAP division leader over alleged WhatsApp threat to Jerantut OCPD

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a Pahang DAP division leader over a threatening message via WhatsApp to the Jerantut OCPD.

A news portal reported that Jerantut DAP division chairperson Loo Why Leong had been detained on Sunday (May 19).

Pahang police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Zakaria Ahmad told the portal that Loo was picked up after Jerantut OCPD Supt Mazlan Hassan had personally lodged the police report against Loo.

“He was arrested on Sunday and released on police bail,” he said.

It is believed that the 53-year-old Loo had sent the threatening message due to his unhappiness over being arrested for the first time on Thursday (May 16).

Loo was arrested for the first time after he had allegedly attempted to prevent a senior police officer from arresting a DAP division secretary accused of selling alcohol and cigarettes "without tax".

The portal also reported that Pahang DAP secretary Lee Chin Chen said he was not aware of Loo's arrest today, but noted that the latter was similarly released a few hours after his first arrest on Thursday.

Lee added that Loo had also denied sending the allegedly threatening message.
