GEORGE TOWN: A 35-year-old jobless man was splashed with hot water by his father following a quarrel over money.

The man reportedly went to his sibling’s home in Gelugor on Tuesday (May 7) to claim his share of insurance payout from his 66-year-old father.

Apparently, his deceased mother bought insurance for the family and when it matured a few years ago, the victim’s father claimed the money and divided it among his children, except the victim.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Che Zaimani Che Awang said the victim demanded RM30,000 from his father but was splashed with hot water when he went close to the gate.

The victim then went to Penang Hospital to get treatment and later lodged a police report.

His father was arrested and released on Thursday (May 9).
