SIBU: An Indonesian man has been jailed 20 years by the Sessions Court here after he pleaded guilty to two counts of rape involving a 12-year-old neighbour.
Farmer Maxi Banfantri, 30, who was also ordered to be given four lashes of the rotan, was charged with two rape offences under Section 376 (1) of the Penal Code.
He raped the girl on April 22 in a bush along Jalan Hock Ming and on April 23 in a bush in Tanjung Kunyit.
Maxi, who was unrepresented, also admitted to having sexual connection with the girl under Section 377CA of the Penal Code, as well as having sexually assaulted her sometime in March in a house.
Judge Caroline Bee Majanil also sentenced him to three months in jail for entering the country without a valid travel document under Section 6 (1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
According to the facts of the case, the girl’s mother had on April 22 found that she was not at home and suspected that she might have gone out with Maxi.
The next day, she lodged a missing person’s report with the police.
At about 9am on April 24, the girl’s father saw her at a bus terminal.
After the girl confessed to having gone out with Maxi and having sex with him, the Indonesian was arrested on the same day.
