SEREMBAN: Police have arrested seven suspects for allegedly being involved in the kidnap and murder of a man, believed to be a foreigner.

State CID chief ACP Wan Rukman Wan Hassan said on Monday (April 29) that the suspects, aged between 26 and 33, were arrested at separate locations here and in Selangor.

"Preliminary probes show that the victim was taken from his home and brought to a place here where he was beaten to death.

"The victim's remains were then burned and then dumped along Jalan Bukit Putus," he said in a statement.

However, Wan Rukman did not divulge the victim's personal details.

He said initial investigations showed that the victim had failed to repay a sum of money to one of the suspects.

"The victim was apparently asked to repay the money after misusing cash belonging to a suspect," he said, adding that police also seized three cars from the suspects who are now under remand.

The case was being probed under section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

He said one of the main suspects has a criminal record for various offences, including drugs.
