Dr M: Malaysians need to work hard, have good knowledge to be successful

PETALING JAYA: Hard work and good knowledge - these are the two values Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad says are needed for Malaysia to be a successful nation.

"The first life value is hard work. If you are smart, but you don’t read, you won’t succeed; but if you are not so smart, but you work hard to chase knowledge, InsyaAllah, you will," he said this in a post on his official Instagram.

"That is why if we want to be a successful nation, our people must have these two life values – hard work and good knowledge of our fields," the Langkawi MP added.

He pointed out that expertise comes from hard work in chasing knowledge.

"That is all we ask from the young generation because we, the older generation, do not have that opportunity anymore," he said.

Dr Mahathir pointed out that university students, especially student leaders, must nurture these values as they will bring success to one's efforts to improve one's self, the people, and the country.

The post, which sees the Prime Minister looking at some files in his office, ended with the hashtag #MalaysiaMembaca.

At the time of writing, the post has received over 24,000 likes.
