PETALING JAYA: Do you want to enjoy scrolling through Facebook without the fear of your "friends" spoiling the Avengers: Endgame for you?
Fear not, as a Malaysian has created a Google Chrome extension that blurs out any Facebook statuses, pictures and postings which feature potential spoilers from the upcoming Marvel blockbuster.
Ng Khai Yong, head of growth at Keyword Tool, posted the extension on his Facebook account on Wednesday (April 17) night.
"There are two ways to enjoy Avengers without seeing spoilers on Facebook.
"Unfriend everyone who bought tickets on the first day, (or) download this free Chrome Extension, which blocks all Avengers spoilers," he wrote on a Facebook post.
Ng also noted that the extension, named No Spoiler, is 100% free and safe for download.
"My friends and I were having a casual conversation about who has purchased tickets for the movie, when the topic of spoilers emerged," said Ng.
Having feeling upset by a movie spoiler in the past, Ng told The Star on Thursday (April 18) that he then decided to create the extension.
"It took me a few hours to create it, and once it was up, I made it available online," said Ng.
However, at time of writing, there were no analytic figures of how many people have downloaded the extension.
The 33-year old from Petaling Jaya got good feedback from his friends, and they are supportive of his work.
"I hope this app will help others avoid spoilers," he said, adding that he would create another extension for Game of Thrones spoilers as his friends have requested for it.
Upon installing the extension, a message pops up which reads, "The No Spoilers Chrome Extension blurs out any FB post that talks about Endgame so you can enjoy the movie in peace.
"No need to unfriend people or disconnect from social media. (sic)"
The Star tried installing the extension, and it works. However, the videos and pictures can still be viewed after clicking onto them.
Unfortunately, as this is an extension made for Google Chrome on desktop computers, it might not work on your mobile Facebook app, nor does it stop your friends from spoiling the movie for you in any chat groups.
The movie, which is a continuation to the Marvel 2018's movie Avengers: Infinity War, is set to open in cinemas on April 24.
It stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, and Brie Larson.
It was reported that since advance tickets for the movie were made available on April 2, many have been scrambling to purchase tickets for the movie.
This let to some individuals attempting to resell those tickets online at a higher price, with one reported to cost RM700.
The movie directors, Anthony and Joe Russo, have posted a signed letter to fans on social media, requesting those who have watched the movie not to spoil it for others.
"Because so many of you have invested your time, your hearts, and your souls into these stories, we're once again asking for your help.
"When you see Endgame in the coming weeks, please don't spoil it for others, the same way you wouldn't want it spoiled for you," the letter read.To download the No Spoiler extension, visit:
