Newborn girl found abandoned in Ampang apartment


AMPANG JAYA: A newborn girl was found abandoned in an apartment in Ampang.

District OCPD Asst Comm Hamzah Alias said that the baby was found by a  complainant who contacted the police at around 1.34pm.

"A police team that was sent to the scene at Bandar Baru Ampang. They found the baby girl with her umbilical cord still attached.

"Medical personnel confirmed that the baby was still alive," he said when contacted on Tuesday (Jan 8).

The baby was then sent to the Ampang Hospital for a medical examination.

ACP Hamzah said that the case is being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code, for intentionally abandoning a child below the age of 12.
